In the summer of 1999, I established the collective “Nartystation”, in the interest of creating films and animation locally.
So far I have produced and directed thirty live-action short films, two features, five documentaries, ten pop videos, and twelve short animations.
I have a huge interest in the history and culture of Ireland, and conduct interviews with old people and “interesting characters” on an on-going basis, sometimes co-ordinating with the Letterkenny Regional Cultural Centre. I base a lot of work on the stories and characters of people I meet.
Under the pseudonym “Bill Hazzard”, I direct and produce low budget films based on my own scripts, collaborating with actors, both professional and amateur, producing at least one film a year. These are screened at various locations on an on-going basis.
I build and animate models based on my own designs, but heavily influenced by the characteristics of people from my own area, and often from the past. These are then usually animated, or exhibited as sculpture.
I am also a co-creator and editor of ZWEEF, an Irish art zine, which collects and distributes art throughout Ireland, and is currently preparing its fourth issue.
